Christmas 2011!

Well another Christmas has come and gone. It was our first and last Christmas together as a family of three. I'm really looking forward to this time next year when I have two beautiful children opening presents! Lucas got so many presents that he wasn't (still isn't) quite sure what to do with them all. He had more of an idea about what was going on this year, which was exciting!
Our Christmas day started at 6am so we could get ready before opening presents and I have a feeling this may be the last year that happens because I know a little boy who is NOT going to want to get ready before opening presents. Lucas' day finished up at 9.30pm when he flaked it after a ride in the car and our day finished 2 and a half hours later! The food was delicious, the company was brilliant as always and we all got very spoiled! Thank you to our families and especially Lucas, he has really made Christmas special over the last 2 years.

Now the Christmas rush is over I can start getting stuck into planning and organising Lucas' 2nd birthday party. The venue is booked, so the next job is to get the invites done and sent out. I'm hoping for some nice weather over the next couple of days so I can get Lucas' photoshoot done and hopefully have the invites in the mail by the end of this week. I honestly can't believe he is turning 2 already, it only seems like yesterday that I became a mum and was bringing a tiny newborn home. Lucas' toilet training is still going great, but the thing I am really proud of him for this week is his speech! He is picking up so many new words and trying really hard to say those that are a little more difficult. He loves to copy everything Daddy does and it is the cutest thing to see. Matthew was moving furniture around today and Lucas was trying to help him push it.... I'm sure it was really Lucas' big muscles that done the most! I love those two men more than anything, they make my day great, every single day.

Today marks 25 weeks gestation for our cheeky baby and it has not been an easy week! My kidneys have been pretty bad since earlier in the week which resulted in a trip to my GP. He sent a request form to the hospital to get a renal ultrasound done to see what is happening as it is my worse kidney of the two that is playing up. I have the renal ultrasound on the 6th of January, which is over a week but I am managing the pain at the moment. Today has been a bit of a test with my asthma flaring up, swelling ankles, pain in my left kidney as well as feeling a LOT of pressure downwards. I've noticed that my tummy has dropped in the last week so it will be interesting to see if baby is finally head down when we check on him/her next. My tummy measurement hasn't changed since last week but my weight has gone up by 500grams. Makes me a little sad, but this baby is worth it all! Luckily I'm planning on breast feeding so that should help with the weight loss after birth.

Speaking of breast feeding, we got our electric breast pump today which is one more thing to cross off our list. I tried a manual breast pump with Lucas and didn't have much success so I'm really hoping by spending the extra money, we will see some results! Next on the list is our Ergo baby carrier. We are in the early stages of planning our baby shower too. We're hoping to have it at about 29-30 weeks just to be on the safe side, especially with all these complications. We are also packing the hospital and baby bag at 30 weeks, which will start making everything seem more real and especially scary for Matthew being his first time in the delivery suite! I have no doubt he will be the greatest support ever :)

This week motherhood has been..... exhausting, but what can you expect with raising a toddler and baking a baby?! Still worth every single second of sleep I don't get though!
