I finally finished Lucas' birthday party invites and sent those out in the new year. It was near impossible to get some photos of him for the invites since he doesn't like to sit still for longer than 10 seconds! I started getting party supplies during the week and we finally finished off the birthday present shopping. I'm really hoping for a nice day since his party is going to be outside - hard to say since its Tasmania and we have 4 seasons in one day.
This week has been a busy week with party planning and shopping, as well as two hospital appointments! I was up bright and early on Wednesday to go and have my repeat Glucose Tolerance Test. I've had to have two this pregnancy as I had Gestational Diabetes with Lucas and there was a 50% chance I could get it again. I got the results to the test on Friday when I went for another check up and I am Diabetes free this time around! Hooray! No having to test my blood sugar level or inject insulin like I did with Lucas.
Friday's appointment was a bit frustrating as my kidney problems weren't discussed. I figure they are leaving that for the kidney specialist on Wednesday since he is the real expert on it all. My fundal height was measuring a week ahead of gestation and the baby is measuring two days ahead which would put our new due date at the 7th of April. I'm just going to stick with the 9th since I imagine we won't be seeing either of those dates anyway. I asked the doctor to check the sex again and he said he honestly couldn't tell me as the cord is between the legs and the legs are closed but I guess nothing is for certain until the baby decides to make his/her grand entrance. We've decided not to buy anymore clothes or gender specific items until the baby is born. We purchased our Angelcare sound and movement baby monitors yesterday so that is another item to cross off of our list!
Over the last two weeks I have felt like my tummy has stopped growing, but I got a nice surprise this morning when I measured and it is measuring at 112cms! A growth of 2cms in the last week! I weighed myself and was extremely happy to see that I haven't put on any weight this week despite my tummy growing. My right kidney has barely any pain in it now, but the left one is what is worrying me. My left kidney functions at a much lower percentage than the right and I am hoping that this pain isn't an indicator of it being damaged any further. I guess I will finally get some answers after Wednesday when I see the kidney specialist. I'm still experiencing lots of Braxton Hicks contractions and had a bit of a worry earlier in the week when it was accompanied by some cramps! All good though :) Today marks 27 weeks gestation - I really can't believe there are only 3 more weeks until we start packing the hospital bag and getting into the real preparation for our new addition!
This week motherhood has been..... testing with the little man throwing his tanties, but they have to test the boundaries somehow! He is still a perfect little angel and I am still a bias mummy ;) x
