Today marks 26 weeks gestation and it hasn't been an easy week, but at least we are one week closer to meeting our baby! My kidneys haven't been the greatest over the last two weeks, but decided to get worse overnight on Tuesday. Wednesday was a public holiday so my GP was closed and we ended up taking a trip to the Emergency department. After blood and urine tests and a renal ultrasound, they came to the conclusion that I had an infection and started me on antibiotics through a drip. We were hoping to be able to go home the same day but due to my condition the doctor thought it would be better if I stayed overnight, just to be on the safe side. It was a new experience to me as it was the first time I have had to leave Lucas to stay in hospital. He stayed with his Nanny and Poppy Todd and spent a lot of his time outside playing, which he absolutely loves! I was discharged from hospital early the next morning and sent home with antibiotics to take.
The rest of this week has been frustrating because I'm still experiencing pain in my left kidney and have had to take quite a few pain killers, which I normally wouldn't do. The renal ultrasound showed that my hydronephrosis is still in a stable stage so that shouldn't be causing pain in my kidney so it seems as though the pressure of being pregnant gets a little too much for my body. I see the kidney specialist in 9 days time so it will be interesting to see what comes of that. The ultrasound also showed that our baby is head down, just as I had suspected last week! My tummy is measuring 110cms, which is a growth of 1cm in the last week and I am now weighing in at 70kgs.
This week motherhood has been..... hard carrying the little person around with all the pain, but worth every second! And a proud moment for me when we started using flash cards with Lucas, only to find that he already knew most of the words!!! I love my amazing babies x
